Background
The client owns a property near the Monje area of Catral, and found Xcel Energía after researching for a reliable solar installer in Catral. Following the enquiry, Martin Hill carried out an on-site visit to confirm production potential, shading, and load requirements.
The household’s electricity bill previously averaged €100–€120 per month, and their main goal was to reduce their bills and gain more control over energy usage. With projected annual output, the system is expected to achieve break-even in around 4–6 years, offering consistent long-term savings.
Equipment Installed
- 6 × Livoltek 615W bifacial solar panels
- 1 × 3.6kW Livoltek non-hybrid inverter
- AC/DC protection hardware
- Mounting system for pitched roof installation
- Energy monitoring setup
Installation
The system was installed on a south-facing section of pitched roof on a finca-style villa, ensuring strong production throughout the day. The panels were evenly spaced for airflow and performance efficiency. The inverter was installed high up on a wall to be inconspicuous.
As with all Xcel Energía solar installations, we carefully planned cable routing and system layout to maintain a clean aesthetic while maximising energy yield throughout the day.
Results
With six high-efficiency bifacial panels and a 3.6kW inverter, the new system significantly reduces grid reliance. Compared to the previous monthly usage cost of €100–€120, production now offsets most consumption – with the homeowner achieving near-zero bills in spring and autumn, when generation comfortably exceeds usage.
This installation is expected to pay for itself within 4–6 years.
